Before we go any further, we need to understand what is “Anchor Text” & why is it so important. “Anchor Text” is the visible text in a hyperlink. In HTML Coding this tag is indicated by "a href". As the linked text is more often relevant to the landing page, “Anchor Text” is weighted (ranked) high in search engine algorithms.

The purpose of search engines is to provide highly relevant search results. This is where anchor text lends a hand, as the tendency is, more often than not, to hyperlink words relevant to the landing page.

e.g. -----The anchor name To the Cool Section of this page -----Linking to the named section.
